Trekt Uw Plant (TUP) – must shut down and disbanded
The first Belgian cannabis social club – Trekt Uw Plant (TUP) – must shut down and disband. The club was initiated in 2006, and after unsuccessful attempts in 2006 and 2008 to criminalize this club, it now happened. Members were given prison sentences of up to twenty months on probation, and a total of 121,250 euros is confiscated against them.
The club’s main goal is to reduce the risk and harms associated with cannabis in the black market by monitoring and limiting consumption and taking measures to ensure the eligibility of its members.
The accused had to endure being tailed, their homes bugged, phones tapped and being GPS-traced for more than one year. This leads to a raid with excessive force by the Belgium Police, raiding 18 homes. The members will appeal against this verdict!
How does a social club work?
Criminalization of non-criminals!
n Belgium, hundreds of patients relied on the first Cannabis Social Club of the country Trekt Uw Plant. But after winning in court twice before, they’ve had to endure being tailed, their homes bugged, phones tapped and being GPS-traced for more than one year. This lead to a raid with excessive force by the Belgium Police, raiding 18 homes and making 3 arrests. Two members were finally released after 2 weeks imprisonment. The third was recently released during production of this video. A petition is now making rounds on the internet, demanding a public debate about drug policy in Belgium.
